چکیده
OBJECTIVE Individuals with dyslexia do not only show deficits reading but are also less accurate in naming pictures. This has mainly been linked to prevalent phonological deficits. However, lexical retrieval of picture names could be due increased lexical-semantic competition. The present study tested whether adults (AwDs) more affected by a competitive context than control participants. METHOD Twenty-seven AwD and 34 participants completed the blocked-cyclic picture-naming paradigm Hayling sentence completion task. RESULTS In task, AwDs showed larger semantic interference effect controls terms errors, especially producing competitor errors. made errors when asked complete sentences semantically unrelated words, that is, condition. They produced related words or antonyms target words. CONCLUSIONS We found experience difficulties resolving competition go beyond their Future studies will need establish mechanisms behind exhibit. Lexical stress assignment in Italian developmental dyslexia
Stress assignment to Italian polysyllabic words is unpredictable, because stress is neither marked nor predicted by rule. Stress assignment, especially to low frequency words, has been reported to be a function of stress dominance and stress neighbourhood. Two experiments investigate stress assignment in sixth-grade, skilled and dyslexic, readers. In Experiment 1, skilled readers were not affec...
متن کاملMagnocellular-dorsal pathway and sub-lexical route in developmental dyslexia
Although developmental dyslexia (DD) is frequently associate with a phonological deficit, the underlying neurobiological cause remains undetermined. Recently, a new model, called "temporal sampling framework" (TSF), provided an innovative prospect in the DD study. TSF suggests that deficits in syllabic perception at a specific temporal frequencies are the critical basis for the poor reading per...
